Have you experienced Cloud Fatigue yet?

I have.

I first felt it coming on last year when as a company we ran 3 Cloud events in 1 month (in London, Belfast and Dublin just to give ourselves a challenge!).  As a new company this is what you do in order to build your market.  That made a total of 15 events in the year making a real effort to provide some education and breath some life into the market.

Now – this year I have lost count of every Tom, Dick, Harry and Sergé telling the world that their company/product/service is not just in the Cloud but has always been in the Cloud and in fact – they invented it!

The funniest I saw was sponsored in one of the Sunday papers (a 15 page ‘special’ on the Cloud) with advertorials from all the great and good (I couldn’t find 1 interesting article or piece of new work). On the inside back page – in prime space, in full colour and a full page no less – was an ad from Dell, Microsoft and Big Red Book telling you that they would ship a fully configured server direct to you at a knock down price – plus the CD!

Don’t these guys even stop to think?
